The HOLG Christmas appeal has been launched!

Choose your donation and give the gift of child bereavement support to help us in 2025.

Charities are often thought of and supported at Christmas, and now we have an online shop ready for you to buy us a gift to support our work in 2025!

Just choose your gift, pay, and that’s it…you’ve bought the gift of bereavement support for a child.
We help children to let go of the sad memories and hold onto the precious ones.

We’ve got a range of gifts, starting from £4.50 – a small gift is what people like to give, plus it’s a nice amount for a pocket money donation too.
Every donation adds up for us.

In 2024, we will have supported 351 children and their families; some of them before a death if it was expected, plus after a death, through our bereavement care and support programmes.

Our Christmas appeal will help us to buy the resources we need to help children and their families hold onto precious memories and let go of the sad ones.

What we’ll spend our Christmas money on

Held 10 times a year, our bereavement support weekends bring children together who have been bereaved – for many, it’s often the first time they have met another bereaved child, which often comes as a huge relief to them – finally, another child who understands.

For their parents, it’s also the first time they might have met other bereaved parents, who join us on the same weekend, for help and advice on how to understand child bereavement, find out how to guide their children through and look after themselves too.

Therapeutic interventions led by our wonderful clinicians and volunteers use arts, crafts, music, games, storytelling and other creative ideas, which help children to communicate their thoughts, feelings and emotions. The creative approach helps them to express their sadness, anger, confusion and other thoughts and feelings. Creativity is often a better way for children to more easily communicate their grief, finding it hard to either choose the right words, or feel able to say them aloud.

Support to last a lifetime
Every child leaves their bereavement support weekend with a treasured memory box, which holds precious memories and feelings about their loved one, which they can look back on, over the years to come. We also gift them one of our cherished bears too.

Our Christmas appeal offers various ‘gifts’ that can be contributed towards our weekend bereavement support days, ranging in price from £4.50 upwards.

Donations of choice can also be made, whether it’s a small donation of pocket money, the price of a coffee, a donation instead of sending Christmas cards or something else.

Will you give us the gift of supporting bereaved children this Christmas?
