M&E Contractor Synecore has set an objective to raise £25,000 for local children’s charity, Holding On Letting Go. Synecore, based in Detling, near Maidstone will take part in fundraising activities and offer sponsorship to the charity that supports grieving children from the ages 6-16 and their families in the Kent region.
“It has been an ambition of ours to support a local charity for some time through fundraising, donations and sponsorship,” explains Paul Thomas, Synecore’s Managing Director. “After much research and meeting the team at, we saw an opportunity where we could really make a difference.”
Holding On Letting Go (HOLG) helps children who are struggling to cope with the death of someone close to them. Often the children have lost a parent, sibling, friend or grandparent.
The loss of a loved one can impact heavily on a child, which can affect their school work and behaviour. A significant number of the children that HOLG support are grieving as a result of a suicide within the family, which can be incredibly difficult for anyone to understand, especially a child.
HOLG rely solely on donations, fundraising and grants. Currently the charity receives some funding from Children In Need, but as a small organisation, they need enormous support to continue carrying out their good work and enhance their service to children across Kent.
Caroline Ford, Programme Manager for HOLG said, “We are delighted that Synecore has chosen to support Holding On Letting Go. We are looking forward to working with them and feel sure that, with their support, we can achieve greater fundraising success. This will mean that we can help more bereaved children in Kent to hold on to their precious memories, whilst learning to let go of the hurt, anger and sadness caused by their grief. We have already started discussing some fabulous ideas, so we’re excited to start developing them.
The money that Synecore raises for HOLG will go towards organised weekend events where children struggling with bereavement can benefit from various therapeutic activities. The weekend events help the children learn to cope with their situation and come to terms with their emotions.
To facilitate the weekend events, scores of volunteers across Kent give their time to attend and undergo training in order to support the children.
Being a small charity, the team at HOLG are ambitious and want to raise funds for more weekend events throughout Kent that are specifically tailored for the varying age groups and situations.
To help raise the much needed funds, Synecore’s team will be partaking in various activities, starting with The Bridge Triathlon Marathon in Dartford on 18th June, mud runs and golfing tournaments. The Synecore staff also plan to initiate a five aside football event, encouraging young teams across Kent to take part. You can follow Synecore’s fundraising activity on their website, on their Facebook page, or at www.mydonate.bt.com/teams/synecore, where you can donate towards this worth cause.
Synecore will be accepting donations for HOLG at Kent Vision Live on 10 May, where the company will be exhibiting in the Maidstone Exhibition Hall at the Kent Event Centre.
