Pam Meller joined us in January and has spent the last month getting to grips with what we do, how we do it and where we work.
Before Pam arrived, we had just one fundraising officer, Caroline Gaskin, taking on the entire county but now we have two, we have split the county across the middle.
Pam will be taking care of East Kent and Medway, whilst Caroline will take care of West and Mid Kent.
Pam’s last job was as a funeral arranger, which gives her some wonderful skills when she meets our families.
She’s also spent six years at The Pilgrims Hospice in their fundraising team, having got the taste of community fundraising and volunteering before that at her sons’ school and for local good causes.
Before she was a mum, her work included 13 years in the food industry, a teaching assistant role and a finance officer post too.
She said: “I am glad to be joining HOLG, to progress and extend the great work already started by Caroline Gaskin.
“I look forward to meeting you all in due course, and in the meantime, if anyone has any ideas, suggestions, leads or links that you feel could be worthwhile then please do not hesitate to point me in their direction.”
Outside of work, Pam lives in New Romney with her husband Alan, a construction plant engineer. They have two sons; one a Watch Manager in the Fire Service and the other a Captain in the Army. She said: “We all love Kent and the Marsh and especially enjoy family walks and get-togethers when work and deployments permit!”
