Congratulations to our CEO Caroline Ford, who has won the National Business Women’s Awards 2021 – Lockdown Leader category.
Caroline was nominated for the award by one of our volunteers, who wanted to highlight the extraordinary efforts our team has gone to during lockdown, to continue providing bereavement support to the children who need it.
The pandemic increased the need for our support massively and despite furlough reducing our already small team, we carried on.
The award highlighted:
The service switch from in-person to remote and digital
Maintaining service provision with less staff due to furlough
Innovative, digital fundraising
Keeping abreast of changes
Communicating changes to staff, volunteers and supporters
Caroline said: “It was such a shock to win this award but what an achievement for HOLG!
“Lockdown was very hard for all charities, but ours was on that needed to continue with providing support – we just had to rethink how we did it.
“At times it was very challenging, took a lot of time and effort, but because of everything we all did, we were still able to support bereaved children – and that is what we do what we do, so that they get the vital and sometimes critical support that they and their families need.
“Congratulations to all the other winners and finalists.”
