Meet Kasia Moore, our second London Marathon runner!

52-year-old Kasia from Gillingham is running her second London Marathon. A reluctant runner at first, she took it up in 2018 as a way to lose weight and get fitter, but after taking part in the 5k Sandbag Challenge (a 5k run with a 20kg sandbag shared between four team members) she was hooked! Since then, Kasia has taken part in many events and completed her first London Marathon in 2021.

With husband Chris, teenage daughter Antonia and a group of friends cheering her on, she is expecting to have another amazing London Marathon experience. Training has been going well, this time with the help of a Running Coach and following her bespoke training plan. While a schedule of three runs and two/three strength trainings per week appeared to be a ‘mammoth task’, Kasia has enjoyed the focus that the training provided and found it also helped motivate her in other areas of her life.

It was via a work colleague that she first heard about HOLG, as she explains:

“I learnt about HOLG from a work colleague who volunteers for them. I wanted to support a small charity, where my contribution would be of real help. I am a supporter of the local community and was impressed by the work that HOLG is doing.”

“I then realised that the stepdaughters of one of my best friends were helped by HOLG about 20 years ago when their mum died, which confirmed it was the right choice of charity for me.”
