It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our former CEO, Caroline Ford, who passed away on Monday morning – November 25^th.
She had been undergoing treatment for cancer for around 14 months and passed away at the Wisdom Hospice with her family there.

Caroline became our CEO in the summer of 2018, staying with us until March of this year. Before joining us, she had been an administrator and fundraising officer at The Wisdom Hospice for 14 years. Her whole career has been charity or volunteer-based.

After receiving a life-limiting diagnosis late last year, Caroline left us to spend more time with family – her three grown-up children and her grandchildren; plus make memories with friends, enjoy travel, theatre trips and days out. We are pleased to say that she enjoyed this time as much as she could around treatments and hospital admissions.

Our Chair of Trustees, Margaret Gallagher, said:
“Our very own Caroline, had been an advocate of Holding On Letting Go as a Volunteer, a Programme Manager, and latterly, as our CEO. 

“Caroline was always forward thinking, leading us through tricky times including the change in charitable status to being a CIO, and the long and arduous journey through COVID.

“Caroline only saw problems as an opportunity to think creatively and seek solutions. A natural leader, she supported the development and skills of the staff team, earning their respect and upmost loyalty.

“Our charity has a special place in its heart for Caroline. She will be sadly missed as a leader, advisor, counsellor, colleague and friend.

“Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Caroline’s family, friends and former colleagues.

“Caroline will be sadly missed but never forgotten.”

Caroline’s children have set up a memorial fundraiser – Caroline had requested donations rather than flowers for her funeral.
Donations can be given via JustGiving, which will be split between Holding On Letting Go and Wisdom Hospice Charity.
