Support and training for bereavement support – for schools and youth leaders.

Confidently handle a bereavement

In addition to helping the child and their family, we also support those around them to understand and help them too.

Sometimes, just a few pieces of advice and guidance from us is enough – at other times, more is needed, and we will decide together, the next steps.

Schools:

Class support – for the children, if there is a bereaved pupil or a member of staff has died

Staff support – Debriefing and support after the death of a colleague or student

Staff training – how to support a bereaved child, cope with them in the classroom, what to say, how to say it, guidance on the best approach.

School bereavement policy – assistance in drawing up a policy for when there is a bereavement in school. What to do in the initial stages, next steps, who to involve, what support to give to pupils, staff and the wider school community. Full help with the process, steps, even templated letters – or whatever else you might need.

Youth groups:

Child support – for the children in the group, to help them know what to say and how to be around the bereaved child.

Leadership support – to give the leaders the tools they need to understand the bereaved child’s behaviour, support them and be confident in what they are saying and doing.

Leadership training – to give leaders the training they need so that they are ready, should a bereavement happen to one of their members or a new member joins who is bereaved.

Bereavement policy – assistance in drawing up a policy for when there is a bereavement amongst the membership. What to do in the initial stages, next steps, who to involve, what support to give to members, leaders and the wider group community. Full help with the process, steps, even templated letters – or whatever else you might need.
