Change a child’s life – become a Fundraising Friend

If you’re a friendly people-loving person, looking for a way to give back to your local community then we could have the opportunity for you!

We’re looking for passionate people to help in ways that fit around their lives, from organising or joining fundraising events, to representing us at business networking. Flexible roles, real impact.

As a small charity, it’s important that we reach people who can help us to raise the money we need to provide bereavement support to the children and their families who need us.

We have some very generous supporters and donors, both private individuals and businesses, but we would like to let more people know about us, to increase donations and reach more families who need us.

We’ve got 2 new roles available:
Fundraising Friend
HOLG Ambassador at fortnightly Medway networking breakfast

Take a look and see if something jumps out at you or would fit in with your life.

Fundraising Friend
As a Fundraising Friend, you’ll be part of a new community of supporters who want to help raise funds for HOLG in ways that suit their interests, skills, and availability.
You might host an event – a coffee morning, take part in one, maybe a marathon, or you may take up the challenge to share our name or raise funds in another way.
This role is flexible – you choose how you’d like to get involved with both time and activities.

Activities could include:

• Organising or taking part in a fundraising event (e.g. quiz night, fun run, bake sale)

• Joining in with HOLG-organised events and encouraging others to come along

• Partnering with local businesses to raise sponsorship or donations

• Collaborating with other Fundraising Friends to plan joint activities

• Promoting HOLG’s work in your local community or workplace

• Setting up online fundraising (e.g. birthday fundraisers, crowdfunding)

• Donating your time or skills to support our fundraising goals

HOLG Ambassador at fortnightly Medway networking breakfast

We have a membership for a networking group that meets in Medway, every other week. Regular attendance will help us to build relationships with other members, plus share our name and potentially reach more people who need us.

Ideally, we are looking for someone who lives in Medway for this role, to keep our mileage expenses manageable. The meeting is held every fortnight at Chatham football Club from 6:30am – 9:30am and includes a breakfast, and the opportunity to stand up and talk about HOLG.

All training and guidance will be given to you, plus we will cover reasonable travel expenses and provide a HOLG T-shirt and jacket. The membership and breakfast is paid for – you will not be required to pay anything.

The aim of the networking is to:

  • Promote the work of HOLG to local business leaders
  • Engage new supporters and potential corporate donors
  • Inspire others to take on fundraising challenges or support our events

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need prior experience – just enthusiasm and a desire to help!

  • Friendly, approachable people
  • Good communication and willingness to promote our cause
  • An ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • A passion for helping children and young people

What You’ll Get From Us

  • A warm welcome to the HOLG family
  • A starter pack with fundraising tips and materials
  • Any training/guidance needed
  • Ongoing support and updates from the HOLG team
  • Opportunities to meet other volunteers and be part of a growing community
  • The satisfaction of making a meaningful difference in young lives
